Wee Siew Kim apologizes for his apology

In an unexpected turn of events, Ang Mo Kio GRC MP Mr Wee Siew Kim, father of 18 year old RJC girl Wee Shu Min has stepped out to apologize about the apology that he had made on Tuesday.

'We both apologise to the people whom we have offended, and especially Mr Derek Wee,' the MP said.

"I should not have said what I did about people's inability to take the brutal truth and strong language."

Hmmm... Strange, I thought Mr Wee also implied in his earlier apology that people should be able to stand by what they say?

Why the need to apologize again then?

"Obviously, this MP's daughter has been pampered. She has lived a sheltered life, and uses whatever textbook knowledge she has to live in the real world. Sadly though, she has failed, judging from this entire fiasco.

Look, if she was that smart, she would have known how to word her entry well enough so that it wouldn't offend so many people at a go. If she had that much more common sense, it wouldn't have sounded so offensive.

Perhaps her education also has proven useless. Is this what our junior colleges are teaching our students? Especially top ones like RJC? Hail the education system and their produce then. (:

By the way, I don't see any reason as to why the WEE GUY should remain a MP, after all this episode has shown us his mentality, and his beliefs.Obviously he can't down to the level of the layman.

Anyhow, long live Mr Wee and his Superior Line of Descendants. ;D

Textbooks don't make your daughter smart too.

Swallowing her history, economics, and general paper texts, and interpreting them incorrectly, as well as dramatizing events are proven her stupidity. Has she not learned from the events of Russian, where the Tsar and the royal family enjoyed a languish lifestyle while the the majority of Russians (peasants) by the way, suffered in the cold and had nothing to eat?

If both of you presume the 'elitist' mindset is the way to go, that simply means, you're aware that we should be having a revolution some time soon aye?

Does that sound ridiculous? Why, wasn't that what you were saying ah girl?

Grow up. Face Reality. National Shame for you eh?

Bravo. Let's see who will employ you in the future.

Cheers."

Double apology means double sarcasm for people who can't handle the truth.

If you can't stand by what you said, does that mean that what you said earlier is wrong? Did someone show you CCTV? Or it means you lied about what was right? So you are a liar. Liars are not allowed to be MPs.

but Sir, the damage is done. You probably have become a liability for the PAP.

Aiyah i think Mr Wee would still be MP loh but might be blacklisted by PM and will be 'reshuffled' the next GE if we still remember it then haha

Offensiveness isn't the issue. In fact, George Orwell would advise against being diplomatic for the sake of diplomatic.

Clearly, it's the content. Look at Rockson Tan. The f-word is flying everywhere but rarely anyone gets offended.

maybe he had to apologise because of other self-righteous people who have smelled blood and wanna jump on the bandwagon of mudslinging and criticism?

“I should not have said what I did about people’s inability to take the brutal truth and strong language.”

'I should not have said what I said' is brilliantly vague.

He hopes people interpret it as 'I shouldn't have said it because it was a wrong point of view'.

But it can also be interpreted as 'I still agree with my daughter's point, but we simply should not have SAID it (out loud) (because it offends people, tars your reputation, and jeopardises my political career)'.

Thus we still don't know for sure if they have truly had a change of heart.

We vote for people that can represents our voice, understand our woes and make life better for us, especially in such a fast changing world. With the kind of remarks that Ms Wee provide. One wanders the kind of influence she receives from home. Is Mr Wee Siew Kim really suitable to represent us? What are you doing as an MP? to help winners? winners don't need help.

When was the last time a MP represented the citizens in his constituency? 1965???

PM Lee probably had a little talk with Mr Wee, thus resulting in his second apology. That is typical in the civil service.

The elite breed the elites. As the system, they protect their own kind, and exclude all others. Singapore is the only country that I know of in the more developed world, where your career can be determined at the ripe old age of 18. In this systerm, Ms Wee certainly ranks as one of the top calibre Singapore elite. My eyes were watering from all the chim chim words and langugage that she uses in her writing. She must really be one of the top.

In the real dog eat dog world of commerce, what Ms Wee stands for would probably get torn apart and feasted upon, very much like what is happending today.

Sigh...I started as an underdog. Today, I make enough dough to live in a condo and afford to have my wife stay home to take care of the kids.

Yet, I am thinking, should I go or should I stay? I am disillusioned by the way the country is and the direction it is going. Will I get "slammed by netizens" for wanting to leave although I can live comfortably in Singapore? I cannot continue to do what I don't believe in, and I am tired of it.
