Foresight [A Valid Singapore Election Issue]

Today I am going to talk about a valid issue - An issue that most Singaporeans may not even be bothered to think about, because we have taken things for granted and do not question why things are the way they are.

I am going to talk about Foresight, with special regards to HDB flats and lift upgrading.

Now the issue of whether it is ethical to prioritize PAP wards over Opposition wards when it comes to upgrading, especially lift upgrading, has already been raised and debated. However people don't usually consider that the relationship between many things is that of cause and effect. The forementioned issue is but an effect, a consequence. Let us examine the cause.

In the first place, if we had constructed our HDB flats in such a way that lifts stop at every floor, will there be a need for lift upgrading? Given the high price we pay for our HDB flats, taking on loans of up to 20 years with ridiculous effective interest rates, shouldn't this be a basic requirement, and not an add-on?

Foresight.
